EACC holds a workshop on the need for ADR legislation

EACC organized and held a workshop on the need for alternative dispute resolution in Ethiopia. The workshop, which proved to be a success, was held at Ghion Hotel, Blue Salon. About 130 participants attended the workshop which received media coverage. After the opening speech by W/o Haregewein Ashenafi, the executive director of EACC, the guest of Honor, Ato Berhanu Tsegaye, the vice minister of the Ministry of Justice gave a speech which officially opened the workshop. Following this speech, Associate Professor Zekarias Keneaa, presented a paper to the participants which summarized the draft law, which EACC has prepared on ADR. Following this, W/t Megenagna Gashaw from the Ministry of Justice presented a paper which provided the participants with an insight on the benefits of enacting ADR law in Ethiopia and related aspects. The presentations followed and Ms. Gina Barbieri, an ADR expert from South Africa gave a presentation which provided a brief insight into the different ADR laws in various African countries.
