Hong Kong introduces a new mediation ordinance

Sunday, 18th December 2011

"In February 2010, the Working Group on mediation set up by the Hong Kong Government published a report (the Report) on the recommendations for promoting and facilitating mediation in dispute resolution.

Following a three-month public consultation on the Report, the Hong Kong Government adopted one of the recommendations in the Report to enact legislation on mediation. Accordingly, a Mediation Bill (the Bill) will be introduced to the Legislative Council on 30 November 2011 for discussion. Unless there are objections, it is expected to become law shortly thereafter."
