Mediator skill programme for judges inaugurated

"Chief Justice Lahore High Court, Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed here inaugurated seven-day judges' mediators skills training programme for Alternate Dispute Resolution.

The CJ said concept of ADR is not alien to us, as it was very much in vogue in our region and the people had benefited a lot from this mode of reconciliation and mediation.

CJ said with passage of time this practice of settling disputes has dwindled and result of this system is far from satisfactory.

 

 

We have to re-degenerate these skills for arresting the huge backlog of cases pending with courts.

CJ advised the participants to take full benefit of this useful initiative launched jointly by the Centre for Affective Dispute Resolution, UK and international Finance Corporation of Islamabad.

 

 

Project officer IFC, Asfandyar Ali Khan, director judiciary, Grossman also spoke on the occasion.

30 judges from the district judiciary are attending this programme including six session judges, 19 family court judges and five civil judges."
