Mediation is formally introduced in Armenia

"Historically Armenian elders used mediation for the resolution of family disputes. However, prior September 2015, only few provisions could be found in Armenian laws permitting some type of mediation between disputants. As an example, reference can be made to paragraph 1 of article 33 of the Civil Procedure Code, which provided that “[d]isputing parties may at any stage of proceedings settle the dispute by mutual agreement.” Another demonstration was paragraph 2 of article 120 of the Civil Procedure Code, which required the presiding judge to ask the parties of the possibility to peacefully settle the dispute prior proceeding to the hearing."
